Little Projects
Took some mediocre portrait sketches I did and tried to improve and make them look more human and solid.
Had to do a little more on this one. Blech!!

Latest
This is a box I made for my sister for Christmas. It is my first hand carved box. It has given me a whole new appreciation for nice woodworking.
Left design is pretty much original, the middle is a copy of what I found in my celtic design book, and the trinity symbol is of course not mine, but the design around the symbol is mine.
Here is one of my first real water colors. If the colors are a little off, it is because I am colorblind. This is a copy of Vermeer's "Girl with Water Pitcher." Mine looks less like a girl and more like a woman, but hey, this is my first.
This was fun to draw. It was also a challenge. Between the perspective, the light, and the fact that kids are just hard to draw. I am not really satisfied with it, but it was a good exercise.

Starting and finishing, seem to be some of the hardest parts in art.

Sculpt
I have done a bit of sculpture this summer. This Super Sculpey is actually pretty fun to work in. I was listening to a series of lectures on Narnia when I made this little guy. I call him Eustace.
He is actually kind of cute, I think.
It is a great way to practice faces. This head is pretty small, so I was happy with how much he actually looked kind of human.
Sand on the beach. It was tricky, and the tide got rid of it an hour later. But this mermaid or sea person was very interesting to sculpt with sand that dried out so quickly. And yes it was pretty big, it kind has to be if you want to put any detail on it.
And for a first face in sand, it turned out ok.

The Staff is Finally Done.
I finished it. Since the end of December I have been working on what has become the best staff I have done so far. I think.
It is so long that to see details I must show it in sections.
An idea of the set up of the sections.
Long view down it.
A rough horse drawing.
Wood has awesome color.
A rough horse sculpture.

Drawing Splurge.
A little doodle that I ended up taking a liking to.
Guess who?
Fun character to draw. And just a really good character.
Self portraits.
I used to think self portraits were to satisfy some narcissistic desire. Now I realize it is to make a artist realize how bad he his. You know when you do not look like your portrait.

Thou Art Back
I just had to post something. I keep on visiting this site thinking that somewhere along the way I subconsciously posted some new art, except I have no new art. Life gets busy and art gets pushed back. I must correct my bad habits. This page is a collection of what I consider some of Watterson's best. And I think of it as some life's emotions on a page.
